Training Policy

This is the first part of the training cycle of the ‘systematic training approach’. Rest of the parts of training cycle is formulated and executed in light of training policy.

What Training Policy is

The word ‘policy’ is derived from the Greek ‘polis’; means ‘a city’ (King 1964). Policy is a (Jaques 1951; cited by King, 1964) combination of formulation of objectives, principles and procedures. It is clearly understandable that policy is a set of guidelines for a particular domain which guides to solve problems.

Nature of Training Policy

There is a difference between ‘training’ and ‘company training’, first deals with individual’s needs and later is concerned with both individual and organisational training needs. So, a company training policy has to deal with both needs of training. King (1964) remarked that training policy should be active at all levels of an organization; spread from shop floor to boardroom.
